This is also where one of the valve\u2019s nicknames, \u201covercenter valves,\u201d comes from.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"332\" data-end=\"1575\">A load-holding valve should be set to 1.3 times the maximum load.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"332\" data-end=\"1575\">Be very cautious if the load-holding valve is preceded by a directional valve with a closed center. This can trap pilot pressure and prevent the valve from ever closing.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"332\" data-end=\"1575\">Use vented valves, either 3-port to atmosphere or 4-port with an additional drain line, to solve issues with back pressure.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"332\" data-end=\"1575\">As a rule, do not choose a load-holding valve that is too large\u2014rather size it slightly smaller to avoid chattering during load lowering.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"332\" data-end=\"1575\">If you have varying flow, Sun Hydraulics offers \u201cMotion\u201d valves with longer spool stroke, allowing varying flows in the same valve while maintaining smooth operation.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"332\" data-end=\"1575\">If there are large variations in load, a LoadMatch valve can be selected, which adjusts the pilot opening pressure to 3 times the current load.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"332\" data-end=\"1575\">There are many different pilot ratios; generally, a lower pilot ratio (e.g., 3:1) is more stable but consumes more energy, while a higher pilot ratio (e.g., 10:1) is more energy-efficient but less stable.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1577\" data-end=\"1794\">Kris Vandelli from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sunhydraulics.com\/\">Sun Hydraulics<\/a> spoke about several exciting valves, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sunhydraulics.com\/about\/highlights\/energen%E2%84%A2-energy-harvester-cartridge-valve\">including Energen,<\/a> which is installed on the return line to generate electricity.
