The valve nose is specially designed\u2014not made as one solid piece, but instead it is articulated and movable.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1013\" data-end=\"1074\">The articulated nose, called the &#8220;Floating Nose,&#8221; means that:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1076\" data-end=\"1382\">\n<li data-start=\"1076\" data-end=\"1161\">\n<p data-start=\"1078\" data-end=\"1161\">The valve compensates for unevenness in the cavity that can occur during machining.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1162\" data-end=\"1260\">\n<p data-start=\"1164\" data-end=\"1260\">The hydraulic valve achieves better repeatability because the slide in the nose can move freely.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1261\" data-end=\"1304\">\n<p data-start=\"1263\" data-end=\"1304\">There is less risk of the valve sticking.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1305\" data-end=\"1382\">\n<p data-start=\"1307\" data-end=\"1382\">Ports 2 and 3 can be made larger, reducing pressure drop and energy losses.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-start=\"1384\" data-end=\"1447\"><\/h3>\n<h2 data-start=\"1384\" data-end=\"1447\">Floating nose for better performance<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1449\" data-end=\"1877\">The image below shows the difference between a hydraulic valve without an articulated nose (ISO and SAE standard) and one with Sun Hydraulics\u2019 Floating Nose. The purple part in both drawings is the slide, which is free to move.
