The valve then acts as a safety valve at abnormally high pressure to prevent machine failure. Examples include mills, screw conveyors, hydraulic presses, or conveyor belts where a foreign object has become stuck.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"455\" data-end=\"764\">\n<h2 data-start=\"455\" data-end=\"764\"><strong data-start=\"455\" data-end=\"490\">Detect unwanted pressure spikes<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"455\" data-end=\"764\">The Kick-Down safety valve also makes it easier to detect unwanted pressure spikes. This can indicate a system fault that should be addressed. A regular pressure relief valve closes when the pressure drops below the set value, so unwanted high pressures can go unnoticed.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"766\" data-end=\"1043\">A regular pressure relief valve returns to its closed position so the system can continue running, but Sun\u2019s Kick-Down valve requires a reset before it closes again. However, it cannot replace a standard system pressure relief valve or shock valve, which should always be used.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1045\" data-end=\"1405\">\n<h2 data-start=\"1045\" data-end=\"1405\"><strong data-start=\"1045\" data-end=\"1086\">Kick-Down hydraulic valve at a glance<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"1045\" data-end=\"1405\">\u2022 Functions like a fuse<br data-start=\"1112\" data-end=\"1115\" \/>\u2022 Ports 1 to 2 remain open until reset<br data-start=\"1153\" data-end=\"1156\" \/>\u2022 Stays open as long as pressure at port 1 exceeds pressure at port 2.
